About me
Dr. Eva Petersen is a multifaceted professional, combining roles as a practitioner, researcher, singer, songwriter, and qualified lawyer. She is a Lecturer in Popular Music at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) in Liverpool, UK, where she teaches both the BA (Hons) in Music and the MA in Music Industry Management.
Eva’s interdisciplinary and collaborative research focuses on the unregulated nature of performance spaces and the shortcomings of UK employment law as it pertains to women musicians. Her research leverages her unique background as an employment lawyer, musician, and academic.
In 2002, Eva co-founded the Liverpool band The Little Flames, as the lead singer. The band, signed to Deltasonic/Sony BMG, toured the UK, Europe, and Japan with The Arctic Monkeys and The Coral. Their album "The Day Is Not Today" received critical acclaim. Eva has been featured in numerous publications including Mojo, Q, NME, The Guardian, The Independent, The Telegraph, Elle, and leading Japanese magazines. She has also been interviewed on BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio Merseyside, and various Japanese, American, and European radio stations.
In 2012, Eva released her debut solo album "Emerald Green Eyes" in collaboration with Will Sergeant of Echo and the Bunnymen, which garnered critical acclaim with coverage in UK press such as Mojo, Q, and The Guardian. In 2019, she released "Voices of Winter Palace," a collaborative project that was the practical component of her practice-led PhD. This record was released as a limited edition 10" vinyl and is available on streaming platforms.
