Dr. Bryan Powell is Associate Professor of Music Education and Music Technology and Coordinator of the Recording Arts and Production degree at Montclair State University (USA), where he teaches courses in music education, music technology, and popular music, and directs the university’s popular music ensemble. He also serves as Chief Program Officer for the nonprofit organization Music Will and is Executive Director of the Association for Popular Music Education.A former New York City public school music teacher, Dr. Powell is an internationally recognized leader in modern band and popular music education. He has presented at more than 100 conferences worldwide and directed numerous state, regional, and national honor modern band ensembles, including NAfME All-National and All-Eastern Division groups.Dr. Powell is a widely published researcher and founding co-editor of the Journal of Popular Music Education. He has co-edited and authored multiple influential books on popular music pedagogy. His research focuses on popular music education and music technology in schools.
