About me
Claudia Calì is Assistant Professor of Music Education at Queens College (CUNY) in NewYork. A native of Italy, Claudia Calì holds a Degree in Piano Performance from the Conservatoryof Perugia, as well as degrees from the University of Perugia and the Catholic University ofMilan. She earned her Doctorate in Music and Music Education from Teachers College,Columbia University. Her research focus is early childhood music education, with a specialinterest on family dynamics and the role of music in parent-child relationships—particularlywithin immigrant families and contexts of cultural adaptation. She has published in a variety ofinternational academic journals, such as International journal of community music, Qualitativeresearch in music education, the International journal of music in early childhood, the Journal ofPopular Music Education, Research studies in music education and Arts Education PolicyReview. In Italy, she is a co-author of a volume published by Edizioni Simone for the preparationof music teacher certification exams and has published with PM Edizioni and Libreria MusicaleItaliana.
